Candice Accola's Vampire Diaries Costar Spoiled Her Pregnancy News
What a bunch of malarkey! Candice Accola wanted to wait until production of Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries began to tell the cast she was pregnant, but one costar beat her to it. Michael Malarkey, who plays Enzo on the teen vampire drama, told Us Weekly that he spoiled the surprise during a table read.
“I ruined the surprise. I didn’t know!” Malarkey, 32, told Us earlier this month. “She was like, ‘Alright, before we start guys, I have an announcement to make.’ And I was like, ‘You’re f—king pregnant!’ She was like, ‘Uh, yeah. Yeah, I’m pregnant.'”
The British-American actor felt awful about making the joke, and quickly apologized. One hunky costar, however, couldn’t help but chime in. “Matt Davis was like, ‘You a—hole,'” Malarkey recalled, laughing. (Kat Graham tells Us that Ian Somerhalder also made Malarkey’s same remark.)
Accola, 28, and her husband, The Fray’s Joe King, announced this past August that they are expecting their first child together. The two tied the knot in New Orleans in October 2014. King is already dad to daughters Elise and Ava, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Julie.
“It’s beautiful. They’re a really, really charming couple and I adore Joe,” Malarkey told Us. “I’ve come to know him pretty well over the years and they’re great. I wish them all the best.”

The singer-songwriter – who sometimes jams out with King, 35 – kept mum on whether Accola’s real-life pregnancy will be written into TVD (a Caroline and Stefan baby?!), but was more open about date nights he goes on with costar Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed. (Somerhalder, 36, and the Twilight actress, 27, wed in April.)
“All the time,” he said of their outings. “[Nikki] and my Mrs. [Nadine Lewington] get along. They’re like two peas in a pod. They’re hilarious when they’re together. We just kind of stick them in a corner and let them talk each other’s ears off. And Ian and I just massage each other on the couch,” he joked. “We get along great and Atlanta is a fantastic place for that because you can get away from the crowds. There’s loads of great restaurants and things to do. We all hang out outside of work for sure.”
